A landscape with a history.
Formed by the collision of two ancient continental landmasses during the assembly of Pangaea. Like the Appalachians, the range is old enough that erosion has significantly worn it down from its original height.
What makes it remarkable
Commonly used as a geographic (not strictly geologic) dividing line between Europe and Asia; a good companion example alongside the Appalachians for "old, eroded fold mountain."
